Zonkhe was a young boy living in rural Eswatini, the son of a widowed mother living with HIV. During a soccer match, Zonkhe suffered a serious head injury that left him with epilepsy and long-term disabilities. His condition required constant care and placed a heavy emotional and physical burden on his mother.
Not long after, their small mud hut collapsed, leaving the family without shelter, safety, or privacy during an already fragile time.
At Purple Industries, we believe that every child deserves to live with dignity and security. With help from our supporters, we built a new mud-and-wattle home for Zonkhe and his mother. It became more than just a house; it gave them back a sense of peace and protection.
We continued to support Zonkhe with food, care, and regular visits until he passed away.
His story reminds us why access to safe housing for children with disabilities in Eswatini is not a luxury, it’s a right, and it can mean everything to a family in crisis.
